BrightSign – Install OnSign TV (Local Network Method)

Requirements:

  • Use a FAT32 or ExFAT empty SD Card. (If the storage device is not empty, the installation process will not work!)
  • Make sure the player's ethernet cable is connected so the player can obtain an IP address.
  • You will need a computer connected to the same network as the player to access the BrightSign player web interface remotely.

Setup & Install OnSign TV

  1. Have your player's HDMI connected to a display.
  2. Disconnect the power cable.
  3. Press and hold the "Reset" and "SVC" buttons simultaneously and then connect the power cable to the BrightSign player.
  4. Release the buttons once the ERR red light starts blinking fast.
  5. IMPORTANT! Remember to have an empty storage device connected to the player!
  6. Wait while the player boots.
  7. The BrightSign menu will appear on the screen with instructions.
  8. Using a computer or tablet, open a browser and enter your player's IP Address. If asked, the default username is 'admin' and the password is the device's serial number, which can be seen in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  9. Click on "Next".
  10. Select the option “Ethernet”.
  11. At the bottom, click on "Use current settings".
  12. Click on "Next" to get to the "Publishing options".
  13. Select "Simple File Networking".
  14. On the newly loaded page, fill out the blanks according to your preferences and hit "Finish". Mind the following fields:

    • Firmware: Although older firmware is supported, we strongly recommend to use version 8.4.14.
    • URL for web folder: Enter https://app.onsign.tv/brightsign
  15. The installation might take a while, in case a firmware update is required. Wait until finished.
  16. Once the setup is completed, the OnSign TV paring code will be shown on the device’s screen.
