Google Sheets as Data Feed external source

Sourcing data from Google Sheets works in the same way as every other external data source before. No data feed is created for its own sake. They should do something.

First look at the App you want to source with the Data Feed. What type of input does it require? You find this in the Data Feed Requirement of every Data Feed enabled App.

In the example of the List App, it requires input in the form of two text fields – one for the Item Name and one for the Currency, this one is optional – and of one number field.

Your Google Sheet must have these fields at a minimum.

  1. Have your Google Sheet ready and enabled as shareable to anyone with the link.
At first, your Google Sheet will come as “Restricted”. You need to change the share setting to “Anyone with the link”.

    1. In your Google Sheet click on the green Share button on your top right.
    2. The following pop-up has two sections:
      • Share with people and groups
      • Get link

      Select Get link.

    3. You will see the Sheet as restricted. Click on the dropdown arrow to the right of
“Restricted” and select “Anyone with the link”.

    4. Copy the link and finish by clicking on “Done”.
