How to quickly Create Campaigns from your Files

“It is quality rather than quantity that matters”. This is a famous quote by Seneca. Well… how not to agree with such a famous philosopher? :)

We take that very seriously here at OnSign TV, that’s why we’re constantly enhancing our platform. Today we’ll introduce you to a small, but very important change we’ve made. It's the implementation of our new feature: Campaign Creation from Selection. Now you have the chance of creating campaigns directly from your File Browser.

Just select the files or folders you want to have in your campaigns and then click on + Create Campaign. Give the campaign a title, set the duration for each file to be displayed on your campaign and that’s it. Note that video files will be displayed in their entirety and also that you’ll be able to adjust your campaign after creation. If you’re a visual learner like me, probably the video below may be helpful to you:

You can also export data from other tools over to OnSign TV. Just make sure you save it as .pdf and upload it to our platform. This will work with most presentation tools, such as Google Slides and Microsoft Powerpoint. When you upload your presentations to OnSign TV, you’ll see that a folder with all your presentation slides will be created. After that, you just have to select that folder, click on + Create Campaign and follow the instructions we wrote above.

Did you realize how such a small change can make your digital signage management so much easier? We hope that comes in handy for your organization! Is there anything you want to share about this new functionality and your experience with OnSign TV? Get in touch with us, our support team loves hearing from you and will promptly answer you.

Brand-new Features: Campaigns Tagging and Files Renaming

In the world of digital signage, many organizations are looking for the best way to get more campaigns done, while spending less time on creating and publishing them. That is the case of some of the retail companies, multinational enterprises and signage operators we establish relationships with.

They have hundreds and even thousands of digital signage campaigns! This stimulated us to design a new organizational system suitable for organizations with a large quantity of campaigns and files. That’s the main reason why we’ve implemented a new set of features to make it easier for you to organize your digital signage content.

Files Renaming

Let’s say you’ve upload a file with a wrong name or maybe you just want to change its name to easily find it later on. Go to Files, select the one you want the name to be changed and then click Rename to give it a new name. That’s it. Pretty easy, huh?

Campaigns Tagging

Tagging is all about applying labels to categorize campaigns, it’s a powerful classification system that helps you to find them. OnSign TV allows you to tag campaigns with multiple keywords: just click on any campaign to input tags under Campaign Info. You can also search on a tag to display all the matching campaigns associated with that tag.

Hopefully these new features will help you not to get lost in the middle of so many campaigns and files. We believe that if you get more organized with your digital signage management, this will ultimately impact on your business productivity. Do you agree? Please tell us, we’re always glad to hear your feedback.

new features

Fine-grained Access Control – Campaigns

Imagine if you could let other users manage only some timelines of your campaigns... how great would it be to fix your brand logo throughout your whole campaign, for example? Now you can do it with any file and for how long you wish with our new feature.

As you saw in our last post, we’ve implemented Fine-grained Access Control on OnSign TV, so you can delegate control over your players and campaigns to any number of Shared Accounts you have. In this post we’ll focus on how you can give a Shared Account permission to publish, edit and remove campaigns and how to lock those parts of your campaigns you don’t want anyone to change.

Changing User Permissions for a Campaign

You just have to click Actions on any of your campaigns, go to Permissions and select which one of your users you want that specific campaign to be shared with. You’ll then be able to restrict what that user can do regarding the selected campaign. Here are the different permission levels you can give to your sub-accounts:

Publish: allows a user to publish and unpublish the campaign to a player that he or she also has publish permissions. This permission doesn't allow the user to open the campaign for editing.

Edit: allows a user to edit the campaign and change its properties except by those locked by administrators.

Remove: allows a user to remove the campaign.

Campaign permissions, unlike player permissions, are not cumulative. That means if you want to allow a Shared Account to publish AND edit a campaign, for example, you’ll need to ‘turn on’ both items. Don’t forget to click the Plus button when you are done.

Property Locks

If you want a user to edit a campaign, but not be able to change one or more timelines, you can make use of our Property Locks. First, go to your campaign timeline. Then, click on the padlock on the left side of the part of your campaign you don’t want your user to change. Note that when you do that, your user also won’t be able to change the layout of your campaign. You can also lock the duration of your campaign by clicking on the padlock right beside the duration of it.

This is everything you need to know to restrict what a user can do regarding your campaigns. Easy as pie, isn’t it? We are committed to making your digital signage management simpler and that’s the main reason why we’ve implemented a Fine-grained Access Control in our platform. We hope these new features prove useful for you when managing your digital signage. Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us.

Fine-grained Access Control – Players

Let’s say your company operates in various locations and/or its departments have different responsibilities managing your digital signage content. Wouldn’t it be really useful for your organization to have different levels of access control in our platform? Think of a bank with offices spread around the world, for example.

Taking that into consideration, we’ve implemented some features that allow you to delegate control over your players and campaigns to other users. Now it’s much easier to put your co-workers in charge of part of your digital signage management, check it out!

Create a Shared Account

Shared Accounts are sub-accounts you create to give others permission over your digital signage content, as Administrators or Users. Administrators have total control over your campaigns, players and files. You can even delegate payment control to them. Users, on the other hand, can only view and change what you specifically allow them to do. To create a sub-account, you just have to go to Shared Accounts on your Settings and click on Create Shared Account.

Players Sharing

Once you’ve created a Shared Account of the user kind, you’ll be able to give it different permissions for each device. If the Shared Account doesn’t have any permission on a player, the user doesn’t even know it exists. To get started click on any player and go to Permissions. Enter the name or email of the users you want to do something with that player, select the permission level and click the + button. You are able to let your users publish, change the settings and remove that player. Here’s an explanation of our different permission levels:

Publish: Allows a user to publish and remove campaigns from this player, as well as see its events and resources.

Settings: Allows a user to change this player settings and remotely reboot it.

Remove: Allows a user to remove this player.

These are all cumulative permissions, which means that if you let users change the settings of a player, you’ll be also allowing them to publish and remove campaigns from that player. In case you allow them to remove a player, you’ll give users permission to publish and change the settings of the chosen player.

One more thing: You can give permission to a user to add new players. If that is the case, the user will automatically be given the remove permission level on the players created by the Shared Account.

All of that enables you to restrict what a user can do regarding your players. It also gives you an opportunity to assign work to others without losing control of your digital signage management. We hope these features come in handy for your organization. Please tell us what you think about them, we’ll be very glad to hear from you! But that’s not everything... stay tuned for our next post to see what our Fine-grained Access Control can do to your campaigns!

Awesome New File Browser of OnSign TV

Have you already seen all the new features you have in OnSign TV? What to say about the changes in our design? We want you to have access to as many features as possible in our platform, that’s why we’ve improved our file browser. Take a look at the changes we’ve made!

Uploading Files

Now you can upload files directly from your computer by clicking on Upload. Don’t worry: you can keep uploading files using drag-and-drop as well. We want you to decide which way fits you best!

Viewing Files

From now on you are able to see additional information about each file when you click on them. Info such as type, size and date of upload will be displayed on the right side of the screen, where you’ll also be able to download your media files. Another great thing we’ve implemented is the list view in our file browser, check it out!

Finding Files

You used to be able to only Filter files from a given folder in our last version, now you can Search for them. That means you can find files in any directory regardless of what folder you’re navigating through.

Managing Files

It’s much easier for you to delete or move files with our new file browser. Instead of dragging and dropping your files into other folders one by one, you can now simply select as many files as you wish and click on Delete or Move to do that.

We’ve worked a lot to release these features to you and we are super happy with our new look. But what really matters to us is what YOU think about our new functionalities and design. Please share your experience with us, we’ll be more than happy to hear your feedback!
